On the back of the stretcher, stamp of the paint supplier "Fritz Schuler Tübingen" (paper and wallpaper dealer from 1880-1902), as well as embossed manufacturer's mark "F. Schuler Tübingen". Painting reminiscent of works of the Munich Piloty School. Eugen Hofmeister (1843-1930) is an important pupil of Piloty from Tübingen, the author might be sought in this circle.

Historistisches Herrenbildnis. Rückseitig am Keilrahmen Stempel des Malbedarfherstellers "Fritz Schuler Tübingen"(Papier- und Tapetenhändler von 1880-1902), sowie geprägte Herstellerangabe "F. Schuler Tübingen". Gemälde erinnernd an Werke der Münchener Piloty-Schule. Mit Eugen Hofmeister (1843-1930) stammt ein bedeutender Schüler Pilotys aus Tübingen, eventuell ist in der Urheber in diesem Umfeld zu suchen
