Figure, bronze, Yellow Jambhala, Tibet, probably 16th c. Copper alloy with small inlays of turquoise, coral and lapis lazuli. Also called Vaishravana or Kubera, Buddhist protective deity of wealth. He wears a crown and jewelry and sits on a lion. In his right hand he holds a victory banner, in his left a jewel-spitting mongoose. He sits on an oval base decorated with lotus leaves. H.: 11.8 cm.
Figur, Bronze, Gelber Jambhala, Tibet, wohl 16. Jh. Kupferlegierung mit kleinen Einlagen aus Türkis, Koralle und Lapislazuli. Auch als Vaishravana, bzw. Kubera, bezeichnet, buddhistische Schutzgottheit des Reichtums. Er trägt eine Krone und Schmuck und sitzt auf einem Löwen. In der rechten Hand hält er ein Siegesbanner, in der Linken einen juwelenspeienden Mungo. Er sitzt auf einem ovalem, Lotosblatt - verziertem Sockel. H.: 11,8 cm.
